About

I’m Saurav, a developer-turned-product manager in Mumbai.

The work I care about most sits where product meets systems. Redesigning a core test data model so one platform could score everything from SAT to IB. Moving an entire organization’s scheduling out of Excel and into timezone-aware software. Building the role-based access and approval workflows that replaced five years of email-and-spreadsheet operations.

I’m the Senior Technical Product Manager at AP Guru, and the only one. The platform is multi-sided: students, teachers and admins all work inside it, around 1,300 of them daily, against ₹12 Cr+ of course revenue a year. I joined as an Associate PM when it ran two courses. Three years and two promotions later it runs 300+, and I lead product for a team of fifteen.

Before product, I took the scenic route. Business ops, where I first touched QA and release management and got hooked on how software gets made. Six client websites shipped as a freelance web developer. Then a stint writing content professionally.

One of those content clients was Guinness World Records. I found them by hunting for a record category nobody had claimed, pitched it, and stayed with the attempt until it was certified.

I write about all of this here, mostly as case studies, sometimes as design notes put up before the build so the follow-up has something honest to check against. The site is a Hugo build I moved off Hashnode and host free on GitHub Pages. The first post is about exactly that.
